∨ 1 What is MadBid?
MadBid.com is a fun shopping website that offers brand new products through its fast-paced auctions for huge discounts. Shoppers compete in the auctions to win products at up to 80% off RRP or simply buy them at normal retail price.
∨ 2 How is MadBid different to other auction websites?
Unlike traditional auction websites, MadBid’s auction timers are much shorter (usually ranging between 2 minutes and 10 seconds) creating a thrilling bidding experience. To take part in a MadBid auction it costs a small amount of credits that you buy in packages. These credits allow you to place Bids in the fast-paced auctions. For every Bid placed in the auction, the price only increases by 1p allowing your favourite products to close in auctions for average discounts of 80%.

∨ 1 How does MadBid work?
On MadBid you can Bid in the fast-paced Auctions to save an average of 80% on brand new products or buy direct with the Buy Now feature to get some of the best deals online. See our How it Works page
∨ 2 How do the Auctions work?
To participate in an Auction, first you will need to buy some Credits. Every Auction has a timer that counts down, each Bid will reset the timer and the Auction price will rise by only 1 penny. If the timer reaches zero and no other user places a Bid, the last bidder will win the Auction for the closing price. If the winner wants to keep the product they must pay the auction closing price plus shipping and handling within 48 hours.
∨ 3 What does "Checking" mean?
As the timer reaches zero, the technical platform on which MadBid runs, sends the server a request to make sure that no other bids have been placed. During this time, the user sees "Checking results" instead of the auction timer. The duration for which the user sees "Checking results" on his screen is dependent on the user's CPU and his Internet connection.
∨ 4 What are the Credits for?
Credits allow you to participate in our fun Auctions. Credits can be purchased by clicking the TOP UP CREDITS button.
∨ 5 How to place a bid?
Once you have bought Credits, you will see at the top of the auction page how many credits are required to place a single Bid. The number of Credits per Bid will range between 2-8 credits. To place a Bid click the “BID” button, this will reset the auction timer and you will be at the top of the bidding list!
∨ 6 Do I get back the Credits if I don’t win?
If you are a new customer you will get back the first Credit Package you bought if you did not win an auction on your first attempt (up to a maximum of 500 Credits).
The rest of the Credits are non-refundable. Don’t worry as in our Buy Now auctions each Paid Credit spent in an Auction counts towards a Buy Now discount, letting you buy the product you have been bidding on with the credits spent in the auction. So you can rest assured that bidding in the fun auctions will still get you some of the best deals online. See our tutorial video here.
∨ 7 What is the Buy Now?
If you don't win an Auction but you still want that item, your spent Paid Credits will not have gone to waste as you can use them as a discount towards buying the product. Notice that every time you Bid with Paid Credits, the Buy Now price drops. You can use the Buy Now feature at any time before the auction, during the auction or 48 hours after the auction has closed. Make sure to check your Buy Now Purchase Limits before you participate in Buy Now Auctions.
∨ 8 Can I buy the product without bidding?
Yes, you can! Simply go to the product you love and click the “BUY” button. Use our Price Comparison feature and you can buy with confidence. We often match or beat popular retailer’s prices.

There are two types of Credits.
Free Credits: The cash value of free Credits is £0.00. Free Credits expire 30 days from the date they were added to your account.
Paid Credits: The value of a Paid Credit is dependent upon the amount paid for the Credit Package. For example, each Credit from a £9.99 Credit Package of 80 Credits is worth £0.12. Paid Credits expire 180 days from the date they were added to your account.∨ 10 What is Rapid Recharge?
Rapid Recharge charges the card you last used for payment to buy another Credit Package when you drop below a certain level of Credits. (See Term 6.9.4 T&Cs) This means you never have to step away from an auction to top up your Credits.
The current Credit Package purchased is a 400 Credit Package costing £39.99. You will automatically be given any running Promo Code for your purchase and, if no Promo Code exists, you will be given 10% additional Credits.
With Autobid and Rapid Recharge enabled, your bids will just keep coming!
Rapid Recharge initially has a cap to stop each day if you have spent more than £130 using it. However, you can set this cap higher if you are bidding on multiple Auctions.∨ 11 What is an AutoBid?
The Autobid feature will automatically place Bids for you. By clicking the “A” button on an Auction, you will activate the Autobid. It will bid for you if you have credits in your account and up to 1000 Bids. If you want to customise your Autobid, you can select the Auction, the maximum amount of Bids, activation price and the bidding strategy by clicking on the Autobid Icon on the toolbar at the bottom of the page.∨ 12 What are the Auction Hours?
Auction Hours are between 9am-12am (midnight). However, some Auctions can run until 2am or even throughout the night. Check the “Auction Information” for more details. Certain auctions are run on a 24 hour rotation so you can always enjoy shopping on MadBid. If the Auction does not close during that time period, the auction is paused and continues the following morning.∨ 13 Are there Buying or Winning Limits?
Please refer to My MadBid > My Auction > Winning Limits on the homepage for information regarding your current Winning and Buy Now Purchase Limits.∨ 14 Are sold products brand new?
Yes! We work with great quality brands from premium names like, BMW, Apple, Samsung, to everyday brands like Canon, CK, X-box, LG and many more. All of the products you see on MadBid are brand new, have never been used before and come in the original packaging. All products have relevant warranties and manufacturer’s seals so you can rest assured that your product has gone through the correct logistics procedures and has been handled with care.∨ 1 Update your account information?
To change any of your account information, go to My MadBid > My Information > Edit Settings. Unfortunately you will not be able to change your username for security purposes.∨ 2 Unsubscribe from emails or SMS?
To stop newsletters and texts from MadBid, go to My MadBid > My Information > Edit Settings and un-tick the relevant boxes.∨ 3 Want to close your account?
To close your account with MadBid, go to My MadBid > My Information > Edit Settings and select the appropriate link at the bottom of the page.∨ 4 What is Buyer Protection?
In the interest of security and fairness to all bidders, sometimes we need to put your account in this state to ensure that you are a genuine bidder and you only have one account with MadBid. MadBid may ask users to provide photo ID, proof of address and other documentation. You do not need to worry, as we are registered with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) and are required to handle all information according to the UK Laws.∨ 1 What are the payment options?
You can use the following methods to pay: PayPal, Ukash, DIRECTebanking.com or Credit/Debit card. Card types accepted are Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Maestro.∨ 2 Is payment secure?
Yes, we use high-security SSL-encoding, in fact the same as banks do, in order to process your payments online.∨ 3 How to pay for an Auction?
If the auction closes and you are the winner, you will be informed via email and a free SMS. You have 2 options:
- You are not interested in buying the product: If you do not pay for the product within 2 days, your offer expires.
- You are interested in buying the product: You pay for the closing price of the auction and Shipping & Handling costs within 2 days and we will ship the product to you. VAT is already included in the final price.
Payment of products won can be done in My MadBid > My Purchases > Won Auctions.∨ 4 How to pay for a BUY NOW?
Simply go to the product you love, click the BUY button and follow the prompts. You can use the Buy Now feature at any time before the auction, during the auction or 48 hours after the auction has closed.∨ 5 I am having payment problems
Try clearing your browsing history and trying again. If this does not correct the problem, contact our dedicated Customer Service Team and they will be happy to help you.∨ 1 Where does MadBid ship?
MadBid ships to United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Germany, Spain, Italy and France.∨ 2 What is the delivery time?
We aim to deliver all purchases within 2-3 working days after payment, but please allow up to 10 days. As we use a number of suppliers, order processing times vary, so 10 days gives us enough time to make sure your purchases get to you. Any exceptions to this timescale will be listed on the Auction Details of the individual product.∨ 3 What are the shipping rates?
The shipping costs are displayed on the “Auction Information”. Click on the photo or Auction title of the Product to see the details.∨ 4 Want to check your order status?
You will be able to track the status of your product by going to your MadBid account and checking your Purchases.∨ 5 How to return an item?
You will need to contact us within 5 days of receiving the item if it is damaged or faulty. Please get in touch with the returns department at email@example.com and mail them the following information:
- User ID,
- Auction ID,
- Product details and
- Reason for returning the product
Please don't send the item back to us without contacting us first. This could result in a delay between the return of your item and a replacement being despatched. If your product does need replacing, we will contact you and let you know what to do.∨ 6 What is a UK Export?
A product with the specification "UK Export" in the product description means that the product will be sent from UK and will have typical characteristics like a UK keyboard and UK plug. The keyboards are slightly different to non-UK keyboards and you need a travel adapter to charge this product in non-UK countries. Whenever you are unsure about a specific product please do not hesitate to contact us and we will give you the required information.∨ 1 What is Earned Discount?
Earned Discount is a pool of discount that consists of a collection of discounts from one or more auctions. As the feature is currently being rolled out it is only available to selected users. If a user is eligible, a symbol - Earned Discount - will appear on the toolbar.
The value of the Earned Discount increases when a User uses paid credits to place bids on an auction that he did not win nor did a BuyNow on. The addition is made only after the auction has closed. If the User purchases a product from the site using Earned Discount, the value is decreased by the discount amount the User got on the order.
The discount will only be valid for a limited time period of 30 days from the time the auction closes. The discount can be used towards buying products through the auction BuyNow functionality or through the separate Earned Discount page (The Earned Discount may not be applied to all products.)
For example: You spend bids worth £15 on an Iphone auction and £19.50 on an Ipad Mini auction. Unfortunately you did not win any of these auctions, but don´t worry. After the two auctions have closed you can use £34.50( = £15 + £19.50 ) on any other auction to reduce your BuyNow price. Or you can go to the Earned Discount Listings and use the Earned discount for buying one of the displayed products.∨ 2 Are there any restrictions for the Earned Discount?
Even if you are eligible for Earned Discount once, there is no guarantee that the user will always be eligible for the same.
Earned Discount is not applicable to shipping charges but can be used in conjunction with other Buy Now discount codes.
If you believe your earned discount is incorrect you must notify Madbid within 10 days.∨ 3 Where can I see how much Earned Discount I have?
